--- title: "International Criminal Court awarded EU's Sakharov Prize amid US sanctions" description: "Most outlets led with the fact that the International Criminal Court (ICC) was awarded the European Union’s Sakharov Prize despite facing US sanctions, often highlighting the potential for this to upset former US President Donald Trump. Several excerpts noted the award was given to the ICC and its senior officials by the European Parliament, with one mentioning the timing in relation to former ICC Judge’s recent developments. While most phrased the award as a show of support for the ICC, the framing and emphasis on the political implications varied slightly, with some placing more weight on the EU’s stance and others on the sanctions context." url: https://harzaviya.com/stories/15850-targeted-by-trump-icc-wins-top-eu-rights-prize site: HarZaviya language: en --- # International Criminal Court awarded EU's Sakharov Prize amid US sanctions world · updated 23 Oct 2026, 8:12 AM PKT · 22–23 Oct 2026 · 7 articles from 6 outlets **HarZaviya summary** — how 6 outlets covered this, generated automatically from their headlines and excerpts: > Most outlets led with the fact that the International Criminal Court (ICC) was awarded the European Union’s Sakharov Prize despite facing US sanctions, often highlighting the potential for this to upset former US President Donald Trump.
