--- title: "California formally recognises Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha as state holidays" description: "Most outlets reported that California has added Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha to its list of state holidays, with a focus on the legal recognition and its implications for workers and public institutions. Several mentions highlighted the governor signing the bill into law and the provision allowing workers to use existing paid leave. A few outlets, such as the Express Tribune and Hum News English, specifically noted the flexibility for schools to close under local agreements. The framing was largely consistent across the coverage, with slight variations in emphasis on the legal process or the impact on the Muslim community." url: https://harzaviya.com/stories/11335-california-adds-eid-al-fitr-and-eid-al-adha-to-state site: HarZaviya language: en --- # California formally recognises Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha as state holidays world · updated 29 Sep 2026, 10:08 PM PKT · 29 Sep 2026 · 12 articles from 10 outlets **HarZaviya summary** — how 10 outlets covered this, generated automatically from their headlines and excerpts: > Most outlets reported that California has added Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha to its list of state holidays, with a focus on the legal recognition and its implications for workers and public institutions.
